Security guards arrest three suspects

WELTEVREDEN PARK – The police are investigating three suspects who were arrested by security guards.

Three suspects who were arrested by Beagle Watch security guards briefly appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court.

The suspects were arrested on the corner of Jim Fouché and Hendrik Potgieter roads in Weltevreden Park on 6 April.

They allegedly approached a 49-year-old woman on Theunis Street and attempted to rob her of her belongings. According to the police, the suspects did not manage to rob their victim.

The Honeydew Police confiscated cellphones that were found in the possession of the suspects. “A case of attempted robbery is being investigated by the Honeydew detective services,” said Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs.

According to WO Jacobs, no weapons were found on the suspects. They will appear in court very soon as the investigation continues.

Anne Wood from Beagle Watch said the suspects were arrested and handed over to the police after fleeing the scene of the robbery.
