Despite all our efforts to bring you the latest breaking news alerts through WhatsApp, I am sad to say it is an impossible task.
We have tried the various groups on a tablet, but the tablet does not support the app.
We then moved it over to a small laptop, specifically aimed at sending out news alerts.
In the beginning it went as smooth as golden syrup, but as time went by, that too became a problem.
After making numerous enquiries through the company’s IT department and after spending many hours trying to fix the problem, it seems the laptop also does not support the app.
On a daily basis the Record receives requests from readers to be added to the group, but WhatsApp’s only response is ‘WhatsApp is not responding, please wait’. For that reason you have not received any news alerts.
We have, therefore, no alternative but not to accept anymore members..
We apologise for the inconvenience.
You can, however, still send us news, ask questions or send information through this app, but we will not be sending out news alerts anymore.
The Record is going to concentrate on the other social media platforms such at Twitter (@RdptRecord), Facebook (Roodepoort Record) and the Roodepoort Record website to keep you updated on the latest breaking news stories.
Alternatively you can send a direct message to me (@RoelienEditor) on Twitter, or leave a message on the Record’s Facebook page. Both platforms are monitored throughout the day.
Do not hesitate to contact the Record team on 011 955 1130.
Until next week, take care of one another.
