Roodepoort to speak out against racism this week
Communities encouraged to raise their voices against racism this week.

For the first time ever, a first-of-its-kind event, the Anti-Racism Week, commenced this morning, Monday 14 March.
The week will run from Monday 14 until Monday 21 March to coincide with the commemoration of the Sharpeville massacre and Human Rights Day next Monday.
It is also organised in light of several racism incidents around the country in the past few months. A lot of these incidents occurred on social media. Between the Anti-Racism Network South Africa (Arnsa) and the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation and Nelson Mandela Foundation a full programme is planned for the week ahead.
According to Arnsa society is still deeply divided despite it being more than two decades after Apartheid ended.
In Roodepoort, an information session on Equality Court is set to be held at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 17 March. The session will commence at 9am and end at 1pm. The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development will be hosting the event, and taking it on a road show to local shopping centres on the same day.
“The idea is to raise awareness, so we will have stalls at the centres where residents can come engage with us,” Advocate Ashley Mjikeliso told the Record.

These shopping centres include:
• Pick n Pay Witpoortjie
