RAC’s race against time
Roodies runners had a blast as they challenged themselves against the clock.
The Roodepoort Athletics Club hosted their internal club challenge last night (2 March).
Athletes were given a set time to finish depending on the distance they ran. Those who ran the 4-kilometre distance needed to finish in under 24 minutes.
Athletes who participated in the 8-kilometre needed to complete the race in under 48 minutes.
Walkers were also welcome to participate in the competition.
The event concluded with a braai evening for all the athletes and their families, socializing with each other and bragging about their times.
“This competition is to motivate all of the runners. This is in part to also compete against each other and see who can set a personal best time and beat the clock. We are also using this event to socialize with each other and have a good time,” said the club’s Vincent Meyer.
The runners who made the cut will receive a special glass with their name and time sandblasted onto it.
