5 words financially-free women understand
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Business women attend the South African Council for Business Women networking session to learn more about how to apply themselves in business.
The South African Council for Business Women hosted a networking session at Klein Constantia Guest House on 25 February. The networking session in Weltevreden Park was attended by its members.
The council, founded by Rika Venter in 1985, is open to entrepreneurs, corporate and professional women in South Africa. SACBW offers ways to develop women’s businesses, offers support and vital information to help them succeed.

The council’s Joburg West vice chairperson Tracey Atti spoke about how members of SACBW discussed financial planning and provided useful tools on how to handle their finances. She explained five words financially-free women understand better than others: limitation, fear, perseverance, patience and goals.
Atti explained each word by making examples about her passion for shoes and what each pair symbolises, in relation to business and financial planning.

“So many of us tend to look at the limitations we are faced with in terms of saving money. It is important to save for yourself first before you attend to everyone else’s needs. Make sure you have the right tools, a financial plan, access to the environment, know the risks associated with it and question if it is viable,” explained Atti.
The council’s Joburg West chairperson Nicki Bilgnaut said the council wants women to feel they have support and mentorship with their businesses.
“Women who would like to join the council can visit our website or email us directly. The joining fee for members is R840 a year and we meet once a month,” said Bilgnaut.
