Florida hosts Prestige Athletics

Prestige Athletics brings season to life

The atmosphere was electric as pupils from all the schools cheered and shouted for their athletes.

Their school spirit songs were deafening and had one’s blood boiling as the athletes were energetic thanks to the crowd.

Florida’s usual suspect Tino Swanepoel performed well, grabbing gold in the boys U/16 hurdles in a time of 14,35.

He followed this up with a silver medal in the boys U/16 100m in 11,46 and a third place finish in the boys U/16 long jump with a 6,35m.

Donovan Fourie claimed a gold medal in the boys U/17 discus with a distance of 45,54m.

Juandré van der Merwe claimed a silver medal in the boys U/16 shotput event with a distance of 14,39m.

In the girls U/19 discus, Jessica Boshoff came in second place with a 34,57 distance.

Duwayden Campher received a bronze medal in the boys U/14 hurdles with a time of 14,40s.

In the girls U/16 hurdles Terryn Cloete claimed third place with a 14,95s.

Quinton van Loggerenberg received third place in the U/19 javelin event with a 45,69m.

Chantè Ferreira from Hoërskool Menlopark won the events biggest award when she received the Victrix Ludorum while Affies Hoër Seuns’ Gerdus du Plessis won the Victor Ludorum.
