Photos: Woman reportedly loses leg and pedestrian critical

Taxi hits broken-down vehicle.

A woman reportedly lost her leg in an accident at around 9pm on Saturday in Witpoortjie.

The accident occurred close to the Randfontein Road and Corlett Avenue T-junction when a taxi drove into a stationary vehicle that had broken down.

According to a representative of Dowrey Security who was on the scene, most of the taxi’s passengers were treated on the scene for moderate injuries, but one of them was taken to Leratong Hospital in a critical condition. She allegedly lost one of her legs.

ER24, Metro Police and Emergency Management Services attended to the accident.

In a separate incident on Saturday evening a pedestrian had to be rushed to hospital in a critical condition after a vehicle had hit him on Ontdekkers Road. He sustained a broken arm, broken leg and head injuries. The accident is being investigated by the relevant authorities.
