Close yet so far for South African Baseball team
South African baseball team falls at the final hurdle in Sydney.
The South African Baseball team is on their way back home after participating in the World Classic qualifiers.
The tournament which was held in Sydney Australia had South Africa competing against teams such as Australia, New Zealand and Philippines.
The team had four players from Gauteng Kyron Bibis, Cuan Bergman, Liam Vincent and Hein Robb.
South Africa started off the tournament with a 7-1 victory over New Zealand.
They advanced into the final where they faced off against the hosts.
The final was a tense affair throughout but Australia took advantage of home territory.
They eventually prevailed over South Africa in a hard fought 12-5 victory and will go through to the World Baseball Classic in March next year.
The World Baseball Classic will draw entries from leading baseball nations such as the US, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Venezuela.
