Polo league introduced

Watch the newest league which combines polo and canoeing.

A canoe polo school league kicked off late last month. The 4×4 league will be active for 6 at Emmarentia Dam.

Canoe Polo is an exciting game similar to rugby, or hockey.

It is played in short, maneuverable boats, with goal posts to score with the ball while other players defend and tackle.

Schools that have entered and played their first two games are Hoërskool Linden, the Florida Scouts, as well as Parktown Girls, and St Davids Marist of Inanda.

“It is a fun, exciting and very fast requiring excellent skills. The games are becoming very popular as a team sport,” said Gauteng Canoe Unions Jennie Dallas.

In the current standings, Florida Scouts are sitting third on the table with two victories to their name giving them two points.

The next game will be on 5 February from 5pm to 7pm.
