Breakdowns to blame for Pikitup’s delay
Entity hopes to catch up on uncollected refuse by Wednesday morning, depot says.
After Pikitup kept mum on service delivery issues yesterday (Monday 2 February) the Roodepoort depot this morning blamed the service disruption on “several breakdowns”.
“Due to an unexpected number of breakdowns, the waste accumulated could not be completely cleared over the weekend,” regional manager of the Roodepoort depot, Stella Wilson told the Record in an email.
Not sure why aren’t Pik(ing)itup
“We started this [Tuesday] morning with rounds left over and will then proceed to complete some of the Monday rounds with other refuse trucks.”
She said trash in some areas is still uncollected but they hope to catch up on the delay by tomorrow, Wednesday 3 February.
“Our apologies for the inconvenience caused to the community,” Wilson said.
