Celebrities place their bets

The stars came out to play on 28 January when all helipads led to Silverstar Casino where the Roulette Masters tournament was held for the third time.

The Tsogo Sun’s event, which was launched on 11 January across the group’s 14 casinos, was a star-studded event that brought out some of Joburg’s loved celebrities to see if Lady Luck is truly on their side. The eight-week long tournament saw celebrities such as Katlego Mohauduba, Lelo B, Jonathan Boynton-Lee and Mr South Africa, Armand du Plessis, land at Silverstar Casino like any high roller would – in a helicopter of course.

With total minimum prizes valued at a massive R2.5 million and a guaranteed first prize of R1.5 million, competitive energy will sure soar as hopes to leave a winner will come out on top.

Tsogo Sun’s director of gaming Steve Hight said that they had seen consistent growth in participation and enthusiasm for this tournament throughout all the casinos with each year seeing an increase in the prize money as a result of unprecedented buy-ins by roulette enthusiasts.

“The adrenalin-pumping semi-final and final stages make this a particularly exciting tournament, when so much rides on every spin of the wheel,”said Hight.

Qualifying rounds will take place at the respective casinos – Montecasino, Gold Reef City and Silverstar in Gauteng; SunCoast, Golden Horse and Blackrock in Kwa Zulu-Natal; The Caledon, Garden Route and Mykonos in the Western Cape; Emnotweni and The Ridge in Mpumalanga; Hemingways and Queens Casino in the Eastern Cape; and Goldfields in the Free State until 3 March. The tournament culminates in the unit finals will happen on 5 March, followed by the group semi-finals and grand finale at Silverstar on 19 March.

Hight concluded that it had been said that roulette tournaments can reward initiative, strategic thinking, and competitiveness.
