Roodepoort collects more water for farmers

The Roodepoort community collected more than 30000 litres of water this weekend.

More than 30 000 litres of water was collected by the Round Table Florida 21 this weekend.

The community of Roodepoort once again came together as the non-profit organization (NPO) hosted a water drive to assist farmers in the North West and Free State.

This is to offer relief from the heat wave that is currently gripping the country.

Do your bit for the farmers

The drive started on Saturday morning at 8am at the Horizon Village and public relations officer of Round Table Florida 21, Joseph Heckler said it was a huge success.

“It was great to see the community once again coming together to help and we have surpassed the amount we initially set as a goal. This drive was really successful,” he said.

The organization surpassed their goal thanks to Medal Paint that donated 10000 liters of water to the cause.

“Now the work begins. We will now find a way to transport the water to those who need it. Last time we struggled with transportation and have been trying to contact people who are willing to assist us in that regard,” said Heckler.

Heckler added that although they have no plans to organize another water collection drive, the community is welcome to contact them if they want the cause to continue.

“We have learned not to underestimate the community and how supportive they can be. We saw young children coming to deliver their bottles of water and the elderly coming to assist us in any way they could. This shows the community can come together when it really matters and we are grateful for that,” said Heckler.
