FLCC Bootcamp a success

Bootcamp for paddlers at Florida Lake.

The Florida Lake Club has organised a fitness training camp for young community youth development paddlers.

The programme is targeting those whose schools are no longer providing canoe lessons, to assist the youth with improving fitness up to the next level and with a full day programme designed to provide overall strengthening of their abilities.

“The young paddlers from U/10 to 21-years-old enjoyed fun filled sunny days at the lake under the supervision of the adult coaches and management team of FLCC. From running training, strengthening exercises such as sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, spinning and stretches as well a technique and sprint paddling practices, the paddlers were kept quite busy,” said Gauteng Canoe Union’s Jennie Dallas.

The paddlers were sponsored by members of the team including Armaan Mullah,’s family as well as his cousins Kamilah and Ameerah Hank.

They provided with light weight Anatomic long sleeve outfits and shorts, peak caps to protect against sunburn, as well as neon anatomic jackets, water bottles and kit-bags.

They also received daily fresh food and fruit was also provided together with plenty of liquids to ensure their enjoyment and good health.
