Rumours Lounge produces another winner
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Rumours Lounge announces battle of the bands winner.
Another exciting final took place at this year’s Battle 4 Rumours and Acoustic Guitar Competition at Rumours Lounge, Weltevreden Park, on 6 December.
Rumours Lounge manager Simon Fould said that the judges had a tough time in deciding a winner in both categories, as the bands and acoustic artists delivered sterling sets throughout the competition. “Bands and acoustic artists were judged on their performances, professionalism (both on and off stage) and marketing (from posters at the venue to their online social media promotion of the event). All these factors played a role in determining the overall winners,” Fould explained.
The band that took the most coveted award at this year’s event was FAQT.
Indie Go took first place in the acoustic competition with New Creation also being recognised for its performance on the day.
Lead singer for the winning band, Terry-Leigh Oliphant, described FAQT’s sound as metal and indie-rock combined with a hint of soul music. “We put in so many hours of practice and this was our first performance together as a band and we have just been putting in the work over the last few months,” she said. Oliphant said that she and her band were ecstatic to have won and wanted to thank her followers who came to watch them perform every time they were on stage.
Last year’s winners, The Great Fernandos ended the event with another outstanding performance.
Bands in action at the finals were: Madhouse Theory, Above Atlas, Cunning Stunts, FAQT, New Creation, Cooler Box, Soberdose and Panti Thug Mystery.
Acoustic artists in action were: Abigail and Dana, Indie Go, Trey Ohms, Merrick Kyle, Maddy, JP Smit, and Bear and Battalion.
