Yesterday, I had the misfortune of driving down Jules street, and then through Commissioner street. Not only was it like driving through a slum area, it was like driving on sludge! Then to my dismay, at the intersection of Commissioner and Sauer Street, a Pikitup employee (barbarian) wearing her SAMWU shirt, carrying a rubbish bag, toppled that sludge all over my car!
This with the other 10 watching, singing and dancing. When I didn’t stop, a concrete dustbin was hurled at my car! Today you announce a political end has been reached.
So, how will I as a citizen, diligently paying taxes and those barbarians salaries, benefit from this political solution? You won’t pay my insurance claim to have the dent removed from my car door, nor will you pay for the cleaning bill to get my car cleaned. Is this political solution going to be given every year when these people take to the streets after they have received exorbitant salary increases and a “performance bonus”which they do not deserve?
Amanda Nair has her faults, but this is ridiculous! where were the contractors to collect the refuse? Being shot at! And metro police citing one of their own would do such a thing! The other people who were meant to keep law and order! Are you as politicians going to keep rewarding this behaviour every two to three months? After all strike season seems to be all year round these days. As I am aware that the strike action is illegal.
Isn’t it the rule that if an illigal strike occures the strikers are officially disciplined? There are thousands if not millions of unemployed youth in our city. Employ them! Stop deluding yourself politicians, throwing money at a problem does not solve it, it makes the beast hungrier for more.
I worked for you for seven years and not once have I experienced this, maybe I should apply for another City job and join them. Really!
