Sportsman’s Warehouse road race a success
Roodepoort Athletics Club’s chairman Charlie Herselman was pleased with day’s proceedings and how smoothly the event went.
Almost 1 000 athletes from around the Gauteng province descended upon Princess Crossing Shopping Centre to participate in the annual 10km road race (8 November).The event is a joint venture between the Roodepoort Athletic Club in conjunction with Sportsmans Warehouse.
In the Open Men’s section, Ntsindiso Mphakathi was the first to cross the finish line in a time of 32.03.
He was followed by Edwin Sesipi a minute later. Simon Mpholo grabbed bronze with a time of 33.34.
In the Open Women’s category, Marilee Retief proudly crossed the finish line ahead of M Mabasa who finished second and Maphuti Phakati who came in third position.
“It’s good turnout and the weather has played it’s part. We were treated to some excellent races this morning and our team worked hard to make sure this event was a success. This race would not have been possible without Sportsmans Warehouse so we are grateful to them,” said.
