Student’s uproar – do you agree?

So, the students across the country are in uproar about the high fees that has to be paid.

Do I agree with it? I am not entirely sure what I should think about this. I agree that the fees are exorbitantly high, too high for the majority of parents who want to send their children to university. I know I cannot afford it.

Maybe this is the only way for government to sit up and notice. Governments, on numerous occasions, say they need more skilled people in the business industry. In order to obtain skills, you need to study, but what if you cannot afford it?

Another valid point, not my own but rather a caller on a popular radio station said the students study for at least four years. They leave university with thousands of Rands of debt but there is no guarantee they will find a job.

What I don’t agree with is the amount of vandalism taking place. Videos that has gone viral shows how students break into kitchen areas and help themselves to food. That is just wrong. Take a stand for what you believe in, make a point, but don’t break and vandalise places that does not belong to you. This is my humble opinion.

I would also suggest that students use this time to also, between all the chaos, focus on their studies because exams are starting soon, so I heard.

I can also only pray that there will be no bloodshed and that government takes note.

Let’s hope everything will calm down soon.

Until next week, take care of one another.

Ciao
