Jadene has a heart for nature

Jadene Edwards is looking to be the next Miss Nature Conservation South Africa

Florida’s Jadene Edwards is excited to be a finalist in the Miss Nature Conservation South Africa pageant.

Last year, she was second princess in the competition and believes she can do better this year.

Her love of nature and animals led her to sign up for the competition and she has never competed in other pageants.

“I have never been interested in pageants but this one just drew me in. Their love of nature and animals is just what I believe in and I have learned so much by being part of the competition,” she said.

The 17-year-old has learned more by helping the Roodepoort SPCA, Claw, visiting nature reserves and river rehabilitation as part of the pageants projects.

“The experiences from last year were wonderful and this year is even better. I have been given an opportunity to help make a difference in our environment and I love that. This year we are involved in more projects,” she said.

If she wins Miss Nature Conservation South Africa, Jadene plans to use her title to bring more awareness to animals and the environment.

She also aims to one day participate in the Ms South Africa pageant.

“If I win the crown, the community will be able to recognize me more and I will be able to use that to further the causes that are close to my heart. But first, I have to learn to be pageant material,” she said.

The competition will take place at the Discovery Recreational Centre on 14 November.
