Brandon Weir (12) raises the bar
RUIMSIG – Brandon Weir from Ruimsig Country Club won the 12-year-old division at the Junior Africa Challenge held at Zebula Golf Estate.
Brandon Weir, member of Ruimsig Country Club won the 12-year-old division at the Junior Africa Challenge held at Zebula Golf Estate recently, producing scores of 71, 75 and 69.
This win gains Weir an entry into the Malaysian Junior Championships taking place in December, the European Junior Championships to be held in May 2016 in Scotland and the World Teen Championships taking place in July 2016 at Pinehurst, USA.

Weir, a pupil at Maragon Private School, said he was inspired by his elder brother, PGA professional Ashley Weir.
He became familiar with golf at the age of five after watching his brother practise in the garden.
Shortly after, he started a 10-week programme at the World of Golf where he won the Gary Player Future Player Award.
From there he has been seeking professional coaching from golf specialist, Bryan Roelofsz, after having briefly learned under Eldred Westner.
He has developed into a fine young golfer, where at the age of 12 years old, plays off an 8 handicap and tees off from the men’s tee boxes.
Weir currently plays Junior League for Ruimsig Country Club and has made the Central Gauteng Golf Union (CGGU) team for the second year in a row.
