Beware of this couple

Suspect pretend to have an upset stomach.

A Helderkruin pensioner, Herman du Toit wants to warn residents against a couple who abused his hospitality by stealing R600 from him.

Late Tuesday afternoon he was walking around the retirement village in which he resides, when a young couple, in their late 30’s approached them. They told them they are there to visit a person but Du Toit said he knew no one by that name.

The man then told him that they drove all the way from Nylstroom and were very tired. He also said due to a pie he ate on the way his stomach was upset. Du Toit offered that he used his toilet and he invited them in.

He gave the woman a glass of water and made the man a cup of coffee. When the man came out of the bathroom Du Toit saw him go in his bedroom. He asked him what was he looking for to which the man replied he was looking for a tissue.

The couple then left and as soon as they were gone Du Toit got suspicious and when he looked in his study his wallet, containing R600 cash, was gone.

Within five minutes of the couple leaving Du Toit received a notification from his bank that the wrong pin number was entered on his ATM card. About an hour later her received abnother notification.

The scamster made a blunder though. When he signed in at the security gate he entered his real telephone in the register. Du Toit phoned the number but the person kept on putting the phone down in his ear.

According to Du Toit the couple drive a white Golf with the registration SHP 340 GP.
