Bokke show USA who is boss
Referee Pascal Gauzere also awarded the Boks a first half penalty try.
South African coach Heyneke Meyer must be a relieved man after his team bludgeoned their way to victory against the USA last night.
The scoreline of 64-0 might look flattering for the Boks but resolute defences by the Americans in the first half ensured fans were on the edges of their seats.
With a string of errors and a lackluster performance saw the Boks head into the break leading 14-0.
This was courtesy of Damien de Allende’s first international try and a penalty try off a scrum.
However, in the second half, the Boks were a different a different beast as they added 50 points to the board as they scored eight tries.
Bryan Habana was the leading man as he scored a hat-trick.
Habana’s three tries saw him equal Jonah Lomu’s record of 15 World Cup tries.
Bismarck du Plessis, Jesse Kriel and Lwazi Mvovo score one each, Francois Louw added two tries.
Handrè Pollard- made four conversions while Mornè Steyn added three after coming on in the second half from the bench.
The match was the first time a team had failed to score at this year’s World Cup; however the Americans cannot be blamed as they made 12 changes to their starting 15 to focus on their final pool match against Japan this weekend.
de Allende was named Man-of-the-Match for his performances on the field.
