Princess Debate Team on fire
Princess High School learners qualified for Gauteng Debate League.
It has been a rather busy year for the Princess High School’s debate team.
Last month the team participated in the Gauteng Debate League.
The juniors lost in the semi-finals while their seniors lost in the quarter-finals of the event.
Mbangeni Boitumelo, Tokollo Ramose, Lusanda Nkosi and Mbalenhle Mkhithi were named in the top 10 speakers of the competition.
The loss however did not dishearten the team as a few weeks later, they went on to participate in the Constitution Hill Debate Tournament a few weeks later.
Here, the seniors battled all the way to the semi-finals where they lost.
In the competition, Mkhithi was ranked second and awarded with a 10-day trip to Robben Island.
Participating in the Gauteng Provincial Debate recently, Mkhithi and Nqobile Nzama were selected to attend trials for the Provincial Academy team that will compete in the national competition.
The Princess High School debate team is also looking forward to their Botswana where they will participate in the Books Botswana Debate and Speaking Championships in December if they can get a sponsor.
