LITTLE FALLS – Trinityhouse Little Falls show their support for CHOC and Cupcakes for Cancer by selling over 700 cupcakes.
Trinityhouse Little Falls showed their support for CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation and Cupcakes for Cancer by selling over 700 cupcakes on 17 September.
Mathematics teacher Renee van der Westhuizen said the school took note of the need for cancer awareness during the launch of an awareness drive hosted at the school on 1 September.
“Each pupil received a gold ribbon to wear on their school blazer to spread awareness among the community,” said van der Westhuizen.

She said each pupil also received a CHOC pledge card that indicated items CHOC uses to make care bags for children between the ages 3 –13 with cancer.
She explained these bags are given to the children once they arrive at hospitals nationally for chemotherapy.
The Grade 11 pupils hosted “A Party of Hope” during which they sold more than 700 cupcakes to raise funds for the foundation.
“We raised about R3500 by selling cupcakes and items to fill more than 44 bags at the value R15 000 were also donated towards the CHOC drive,” said van der Westhuizen.
Van der Westuizen said another R700 was raised for civvies day.
