Pre-school receives highest award

STRUBEN'S VALLEY – Play-with-a-Purpose is voted the model pre-school.

Local pre-school Rainbow Valley Pre-school walked away with the highest award of the evening at the eight Annual National Early Childhood Development Awards hosted at the YFC Training Centre on 31 August.

The event was hosted by the non-profit orginisation (NGO) Play-with-a-Purpuse (PWAP).

According to their website, PWAP is an organisation that ensures children across the country receive the best possible pre-school education.

They also make sure pre-schools are properly equipped so children can lead fulfilling lives and also that teaching standards are being met nationally.

Rainbow Valley Pre-school in Struben’s Valley was awarded with the Model Pre-school of the Year 2015 Award.

.PWAP sponsorship and communications manager Roxanne Wienand said this was the highest award any pre-school could receive.

“Rainbow Valley received this award as they were the school with the most excellent teaching, facilities assessment of children and brain development programme. Play-with-a-Purpose believes it is important to recognise and award early childhood development centres for their hard work in all social and economic groups. Research shows access to early education has a direct correlation on the lowering of crime rates and increased economy growth,”said Wienand

Wienand said 80 pre-schools from three different provinces competed for this title.

She said the event is hosted yearly to uphold the required standards for pre-schools.
