Giving back to the less-fortunate is a noble gesture – especially, when it is done by a young person.
Grade 7 pupil Tegan Kelly (12) of Weltevreden Park Primary School participated in charity work as part of a school project.

Prefects at Weltevreden Park Primary School were asked to choose a charity and to contribute funds or items toward this charity of their choice.
Kelly chose Cradle of Hope after identifying areas where she can assist them and make a difference.
Cradle of Hope, which is based in Krugersdorp, takes care of vulnerable women and children, destitute individuals looking for help as well as young teenage girls.
They are a non-profit organisation that relies on donations from the public and companies to raise funds to keep the organisation open and running on a daily basis.
Kelly took it upon herself to to ask family and friends for old clothes, bedding and anything that they didn’t use or want so she could donate it to the organisation.
She collected a number of varied items over a few months and then handed these over to them on 9 September.
Kelly’s aunt, Jayne Wilkinson, said it is nice to see children give back to those who are less fortunate.
“As her aunt I’m am very proud and glad she has done this,” she said.
Manager of Cradle of Hope Georgina Caetano believes it is admirable when young people raise awareness and feel the need to help those who are in dire circumstances.
“It’s amazing when young people are aware of the challenges others go through and realise there is a need in the community and make the means to offer their help,” she said.
