WELTEVREDEN PARK - Popular rock band, aKING, made an appearance at Rumours Lounge.
Rumours Lounge in Weltevreden Park was the intimate venue for a concert featuring successful rock band, aKING, on 11 September. The band, formed in Bellville, released their first album in 2008 and has since enjoyed large success on the South African band scene, most recently performing at Oppikoppi Festival, which features local and international bands annually.
Supporting bands included Parts & Fiction, You, Me & The Harmony and Man As Machine who opened for aKING with a riling performance.
A show running predictably late and a long wait while the sound was being tested were not enough to discourage the droves of aKING fans from their sweaty bouncing and head-banging throughout the performance. aKING describes their music as melodic pop-rock and was able to deliver one of their better perfomaces on the narrow stage.
aKING play regularly in the Joburg area. The band consists of members Laudo Liebenberg, Hennie Van Halen, Jaco ‘Snakehead’ Venter and Andrew Davenport. aKING is in the process of completing their fifth album entitled Morning After.
