Resident frustrated with City Power
LITTLE FALLS – Resident accuses City Power of delivering poor service.
After numerous attempts City Power finally responded on 11 September to a complaint made by residents about a faulty electricity meter in Little Falls.
Wayne O’ Gorman said he has been battling with his smart meter for weeks and City Power has not done anything to rectify the problem.
City Power spokesperson Sydney Mphalele said O’ Gorman will be contacted later on 11 September in order to make an appointment for City Power to rectify the problem.
“My meter cuts out when I have two or more lights burning while the fridge and TV are also on. Once off, it takes around four to five hours for the electricity to come back on,” said O’ Gorman.
He said City Power did, however, send a technician after the first time he phoned but he only showed O’ Gorman how to reset the meter and did not repair it.
O’ Gorman said he had logged numerous calls since then but nothing has been done about the problem.
“I am shocked at the poor service of City Power,” said O’ Gorman.
Ward 97 councillor Jaco Engelbrecht said problems such as this have been occurring more frequently.
He said residents should report problems to the City Power’s call centre to obtain a reference number.
“If the problem is not addressed in 30 days, residents should inform me,” said Engelbrecht.
Engelbrecht said in this case, he will take the matter further and ensure it gets resolved.
