Urgent: Emergency water shutdown
Today there will be no water in parts of Roodepoort, Johannesburg Water announced earlier.

In a press release, the utility said residents living in Weltevreden Park and surrounding areas should take note of an emergency water shutdown.

Affected areas include Allen’s Nek, Strubens Valley, Weltevreden Park, Little Falls, Poortview, Wilgeheuwel, Radiokop, Amarosa, Aanwins, Haverston, Ruimsig, Tresjolie, Zonnehoewe, Willowbrook Estate and Honeydew View.
The outage is planned for between 8am this morning and 4pm this evening.
The utility said the reason for the shutdown is to replace a leaking 300mm diameter valve.

“Water tankers will roam around affected areas, but normal supply won’t be available,” the release read.
“By this repair we hope to improve service delivery and continuation of water supply.
“We apologise to residents in affected areas and undertake to have the interruption resolved as soon as possible.”
