Update: More pupils in attendance at Roodepoort Primary

Catch-up plan in full swing.

The Education Department has released a statement this morning saying all is well at Roodepoort Primary.

According the statement pupil attendance has increased to 912 as compared to 643 yesterday.

The department has made arrangements for a team of psychologists to provide counselling to both pupils and teachers as a form of debriefing at the school.

The school has already started implementing a catch up programme to ensure that pupils make up for the time lost during disruptions at the school.

The catch up programme includes the following:

· The deployment of subject advisors to the school to work closely with teachers to identify gaps and make up for them

· The extension of contact time by up to an hour daily

· Extra classes during school holidays
