Western Rackets relaunched

Exhibition match for the relaunching of the Western Rackets Squash Club.

Ooh’s and aah’s could be heard as South Africa’s top squash players battled it out in an exhibition match this weekend.

The event was hosted at the Western Rackets Squash Club where the country’s number six ranked player Rodney Durbach and number 11 Andrew Martin marked the club’s reopening.

This comes after extensive renovations took place at the club since last year.

“It was time for us to upgrade because the wear and tear of the courts was showing and we want to showcase a world class facility,” said the club’s Pieter Rossouw.

The club, which will be celebrating its 39th year since establishment is the second oldest squash club in the country and now offers 12 brand new courts and a pro shop for equipment.

“We want to be the best squash club in the country and we invite everyone who is interested in the sport to come join. We are also a social club for those who want to have a bit of fun on the courts.The club offers coaching for beginners,” said Rossouw.
