Cross country athlete aims for gold
Hoërskool Bastion’s cross country runner will be hoping to do well at this weekend’s district championships.
Franzelle Mertz is aiming to represent her province and South Africa but first she will have to qualify by attaining victory at the competition.
The 15-year-old has been participating in cross country and athletics for the last three years.
”I practice hard to make sure I’m in good shape and prepared. I want to do well and represent my country,” she said.
The grade nine pupil will be up against athletes from schools such as Hoërskool Noordheuwel, Monument and Bekker.
