The ANC in greater Johannesburg region under leadership of chairperson Parks Tau has a vision for the growth of this city, under his leadership, there are various subcommittees that are set up in the ANC.

The ANC has real solutions to economic Growth in Roodepoort area.
The subcommittee of economic transformation is solely focused in improving the city’s GDP, every Zone in the City has a subcommittee of economic transformation, its mandate is achieve do the following;
– create a conducive environment for the emergence of the black industrialists,
– Identify bottlenecks in the implementation process and recommend appropriate implementation methodologies,
– Transform the state in order to advance revolutionary economic objectives of the ANC
– Mobilise all social partners to play an active role in both the stimulation of economic growth and the realisation of the socio-economic transformation objective,
The sub-committees are spread across all 16 zones of the Region. The Roodepoort area falls under Zone 5, under the leadership of the Zonal Chairperson Phosane Mngqibisa, the zone is pushing the Department of Economic development in the city of Joburg, to action its mandate to grow the local economy of Roodepoort.
We have noted the challenges that business is facing in the Roodepoort area, from the street traders, informal businesses in informal settlements, to retailers in the Inner-city of Roodepoort, to SME’s situated in shopping malls and across Roodepoort including large businesses.
The department of economic development in the city of Joburg has achieved the following in the past year, to stimulate growth in the city. The Mayor of Joburg Parks Tau, has Enterprise development as a Mayoral Priority, to create jobs in the Roodepoort area.
– 4,281 SMEs supported by the City in 2014, across the City of Joburg – 3,900 additional supported to register on supply chain management,
– Expanded public Employment program earmarked to create 55 000 work opportunities,
-2nd year of the Jozi @ work program to be rolled out accross the Roodepoort area
– Before the end of the year, Roodepoort area will have a business hub, created in collaboration with private sector to support SME’s in the area.
The ANC in the Roodepoort, is committed to work closely entrepreneurs and job seekers, we will be arranging business breakfasts and networking sessions with the leadership in the Zone, this will give an opportunity to SME’s and large co-operations to engage with the MMC of Economic Development Ruby Mathang and Chairperson of the Economic Development Committee Willie Van Der Schyf.
