GALLERY: Women of substance honoured
MULDERSDRIFT – Women of substance honoured in fine style at Silverstar Casino.
The Woman of Substance (WOS) Awards were held in fine style at Silverstar Casino on 29 August.
The event was attended by South Africa’s most influential women who thrive in their respective roles in the community.
About 20 exceptional women were nominated for the prestigious event.
Awards were given to women who have played a significant role in the community, business and entrepreneurship.
Managing director of WOS Charlotte du Plessis said she believes women will take the first step to living in purpose.
“Women of substance are strong minded and our purpose is to serve all women from all walks of life,” said Du Plessis.
Guest speaker Edith Venter advised women not to be afraid of where they come from.
“Where you come from is an incredible journey,” she said, and added, “As a woman, have no regrets, whatever happened is done, move forward, and also respect is essential, make no judgment and have no expectations.”
Venter also advised women to love and be passionate about what they do.
The chosen winners of this year’s event include Carolyn Steyn, who scooped the Women in Community award, is popularly known for her role in the 67 blankets for Mandela initiative.
Koo Govender, won Women in Business while Suzette Marais won Woman Entrepreneur.
To add the cherry on top, guest were entertained by Samantha Peo, Bongiwe Musa, Paul Dalisi and Tim Moloi who dazzled the audience with their powerful voices and their moving performances.
