Local woman nominated for Woman of Substance awards
Local business woman Gillian Meiring has been nominated for the Woman of Substance awards that will be hosted on 29 August at the Silverstar Casino in Muldersdrift.
According to external communications manager of Brand Inscentives Anchen Witthuhn, the awards are held yearly in order to honour woman who have become successful despite personal challenges and have made a positive difference in the lives of others.
Meiring has been nominated for the success of her business Brand Inscentives.
“I feel honored to have been nominated for the awards,” said Meiring.
Well-known personalities such as Edith Venter, Riana Mooi and Thuli Sithole will be attending the event.
Meiring, originally from Port Elizabeth, started her business in 2005 in Ruimsig and said it has been growing ever since.
She stated it took a lot of hard work and persistence to achieve the success she has.
“I obtained the idea during a vacation in Europe. I realised it has not been done in South Africa and grabbed the opportunity,” said Meiring.
Brand Inscentives supplies marketing companies, hotels, casinos and retail outlets with various fragrance solutions.
Scents are only used to perfume rooms and not the body.
Meiring is also a mother, supporter of the non-profit organisation Rainbows and Smiles and runs her own non-profit organisation, All Hands on Deck.
“We started the charity after our own son passed away from cancer,” Meiring explained.
Her advice to young entrepreneurs is to be persistent and to follow your dream.
