Local teenager attains fame with 100 000 YouTube subscribers
RUIMSIG – Maragon Private Schools' Grade 10 pupil, Michael Philips, has reached a goal of 100 000 subscribers on YouTube.
Grade 10 pupil of the Maragon Private Schools Michael Philips, has managed to achieve the goal of 100 000 subscribers on YouTube.
Michael joins the ranks of nine other South Africans such as Caspar Lee, Trevor Noah and Cult band ‘Die Antwoord’ who all have reached the 100 000 subscriber milestone, according to statistics tracked by www.socialblade.com.
Michael is known online by his fans as MCPEMike, an alias that has stuck with him since the beginning of his channel.
He has garnered over 15 million channel views and has a subscriber base of about 100 000 people who watch his videos daily.
Michael started his channel in December 2012 and he explained, “Never did I think that so many people would enjoy watching my videos.”
He has dedicated his YouTube channel to entertaining children and teenagers worldwide through the use of video tutorials, game plays and reviews of popular video-games, mostly including the huge indie game called Minecraft, which has had major popularity since its purchase by Microsoft from its creators, Mojang,
“I focus on creating entertaining content that will hopefully improve the gaming experience for my fans,” said Michael.
After making and uploading over 250 videos to YouTube, he can confidently say that the skills he has learned with video editing, graphic design and marketing will stick with and help him further in life.
On 24 June, Michael’s YouTube channel was featured on the local SABC 2 TV programme Hectic Nine 9[https://www.hn9.co.za/].
“As long as I have people watching my videos, I will continue to deliver,” concluded Michael.
