Ruimsig and Eagle Canyon have been chosen as the first areas in Ward 97 to receive smart meters, according to City Power.
The City Power contractors have already started visiting various residents to install the smart meters.
Hloni Motloung of City Power advised residents to call 087 022 0540 to enquire about smart meters and to arrange with contractors for when they can go to their homes.
Residents can also email smartmetersupport@citypower.co.za and schedule for a contractor to visit them.
“We are giving smart meters for free to our customers and residents should comply with our contractors as our smart meters roll-out process continues,” explained Motloung.
He indicated that installers should properly identity themselves and provide residents with an employee or reference number.
“We would like the residents to comply with us,” he added.
