New prefects at Panorama Primary School

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Panorama Primary School elects new prefects.

Teachers and pupils at Panorama Primary School recently elected their new prefects for the year – the head boy, head girl and their deputies.

Kyle Strydom was chosen as the head boy and Mpho Siminya was chosen as the head girl. Their deputies are Alisha Hansragh and Shriyan Sai Kuppan.

Head of department for the intermediary phase Carin de Jager said that strict criteria were followed when electing prefects. “We are looking for children with leadership skills, who can shoulder responsibilities and are able to catch up with their academic work,” she said.

De Jager added that the duties the new prefects are expected to carry out were watching over the playground during break time, helping out at the school’s functions and helping teachers supervise classes.

She pointed out that she was aware that the new prefects were open to peer pressure from their classmates, but added that they must stand up against peer pressure. She added that most of the school’s prefects went on to become prefects in their respective high schools.

The newly elected head boy Kyle Strydom said that he was happy to be elected and that he would do his best in carrying out his duties, while head girl Mpho Siminya said that she was excited to be a prefect.

Deputy head boy and girl Hansragh and Kuppan said that they too were happy to be chosen.
