Dancers grace Roodepoort Theatre stage

The gala ran for an hour and wowed audiences.

Ballet dancers dazzled residents with an impressive line-up titled the Joburg Ballet Highlights Gala at the Roodepoort Theatre this weekend (Friday 10 July).

Leading the company was prima ballerina Burnise Silvius who performed the dazzling Don Quixote Pas de Deux with partner Ramiro Samón, himself an SA international Ballet Competition gold medal winner.

The Record attended their practice performance on Thursday afternoon 9 July and saw ballerinas Shana Dewey and Claudia Monja graciously sweeping across the stage.

The performance was a medley of dances from different parts of various ballets, including Swan Lake, Don Quixote, The Flames of Paris, Diana and Acteon and La Sylphide and La Bayadère. The programme was rounded off by three items with South African music, choreography and themes including Gauteng, Jantjie and Fearless.
