Panorama reaches IBER Cup semi-finals
WILGEHEUWEL – Panorama Football Club participates in the IBER Cup in Portugal.
Panorama U14 Football Club was knocked out at the semi-finals during the IBER Cup championship held in Portugal.
The team returned to South Africa on 7 July.
Coach Michael Michael said the tournament was unbelievable for the youngsters.
“It went well, we reached the semi-finals,” he said.
The team participated with other clubs from various parts of the world.
Michael said he learned that South Africa was far behind in soccer development.
He explained that it was only through the change of mental attitude from all the stakeholders involved in football that development will prevail.
“We need to accept that we are behind,” he said.
The club paid a certain amount of money to participate in the tournament.
According to Michael, parents had to participate in various fundraising events in an effort to raise the funds.
“We didn’t receive any funding from the government,” the coach concluded.
