Davidsonville school unrest erupts again

MEC threatens to close school permanantly.

Police had to be deployed to Roodepoort Primary on Friday after coloured members of the community stormed the school and threatened to burn it down if the black principal and teachers were not dismissed.

On Monday the police had to break open the lock at the gate in order to let the principal and teachers in and no pupils were at the school.

Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) for Education called the behaviour “disturbing” and said if it continues he will close the school for good. He is expected to make an announcement at noon today.
