‘We are so vein’ campaign a success
"We are very pleased with the reaction and support we received from the public," stated ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.
34 people donated blood at the “We are so vein” blood awareness campaign held at Clear Water Mall on Wednesday.
“The number 34 may not sound like a lot but 102 people will benefit from those who donated blood on Wednesday,” Meiring said.
Meiring stated the heart and vascular systems were painted on models before they walked through the mall which made onlookers eager to take pictures of them with their cell phones.
The reasons why they were painted on, was to educate and raise awareness that through injuries the body can lose a lot of blood which is why it is good to donate.
South African National Blood Service (SANBS) and Accident Angels, an organisation that gives people access to private hospitalisation if they are involved in an accident, has set up a blood donation clinic at Entrance 2 at the mall.
