Three alleged house robbers arrested
Blockwatch patrollers responded to the house when the alarm went off and alerted the police.

Three suspected house robbers were caught with stolen goods, arrested and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday 17 June).
The Roodepoort Police in a press statement praised the Horison Block Watch for their assistance that led to the arrest. They were alerted about a house robbery in Mouton Street by blockwatch patrollers on Monday.
“The domestic worker was doing washing outside the house when two suspects ambushed her, forced her into the house and tied her hands with scarves.
“The suspects assaulted the domestic worker and she was warned to keep quiet, else they will kill her,” Roodepoort Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Nonhlanhla Khumalo said.
A third suspect entered the house and the robbers started looting. Altogether they took two laptops, a PlayStation 3, a hard drive, an undisclosed amount of cash and clothing.
“The suspects tried to flee but their attempt was foiled and they were caught in possession of the stolen goods,” Khumalo said.
“Thank you to Mr van der Berg and Gerhard Basson for their quick response and to our officers who also responded quickly,” she said.
Horison Blockwatch chairman Danie Bezuidenhout has not yet been available to comment on the arrest.
