Gymnasts heading for nationals

Kalea Meyer, a level 2 gymnast came second overall in her U/7age group when she participated in the Central Gauteng Regional competition earlier this month.
She is just one of 23 participants from the Jozi Rhythmic Gymnastics who competed at the event.
Handri van Tonder and Jemma Atkinson who participated in the level 1 U/11 event and Level 3 U/8 event respectively won their categories.
This competition was a qualification for the interprovincial finals event which will take place at the end of this month.
Out of our 23 entries, 15 gymnasts from Jozi Rhythmic Gymnastics managed to qualify for the interprovincial and will be awarded their half provincial colours for their selection.
Shalene Raath, a retired national gymnast is the coach of the club.
She has been a rhythmic gymnast in the senior South African Team from 2001 to 2006 and was also the South African National Champion in 2003.
She was also awarded South African Senior Gymnast of the Year participating at the World Championships in Spain, Hungary and Azerbaidjan.
