MTN delays marathon

MTN postpones planned marathon due to ongoing strikes by employees.

MTN has been forced to postpone it’s planned 21 Days of Y’ello Care half-marathon this weekend.

This is because of the Communication Workers Union led strike that has plagued the mobile company for the last four weeks.

The strike is over issues of guaranteed bonuses and increased wages.

The annual event is to raise awareness of the MTN staff volunteerism initiative called MTN 21 Days of Y’ello Care and raising funds for ICT projects in disadvantaged schools.

MTN said they will leave nothing to chance owing to the violent nature of the industrial action as the current atmosphere is not conducive for the comraderies and festive spirit that the race is renowned for.

A new race date will be communicated in due course.
