Sharing warmth this winter
RANDPARK RIDGE – Trinityhouse High Randpark Ridge pupils make fleece blankets for the less fortunate.
The Grade 10 pupils of Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge recently combined efforts to make about 149 fleece blankets for those less fortunate.
The cosy blankets will be donated to the new-born babies at Baragwanath Hospital Comforts Committee (BHCC) and the Hospital and Clinic Outreach programme – which supports the neediest of people in various clinics across the country.
“It has been such a blessing to each of our Grade 10 pupils, to have been part of this blanket-thon drive,” said principal of Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge, Cristo de Wit.
“We thank all our Trinitonians that took time to make [a] special difference in a stranger’s life. We also would like to thank the Baragwanath Comforts Committee for their tenacity and hard work and hope to be part of many such initiatives in future.”
BHCC was established by doctors’ wives from the Baragwanath Hospital. The committee aims to provide basic necessities to destitute patients. It has since grown to cover all State hospitals and the majority of State clinics in the greater Johannesburg region.
“The Trinityhouse Grade 10 pupils thought it best to give some of their time, working together and creating blankets to lend a special helping hand to these organisations,” said de Wit.
