JMPD causes accident while en-route to accident
After she landed on the ground, the woman managed to move herself to safety and the Metro officers immediately ran towards her.
A woman sustained minor injuries when she was hit by a Johannesburg Metro Police vehicle yesterday morning.
The incident happened at the Ontdekkers Road and Conrad Street intersection.
The traffic lights were flashing green for the woman to cross the road when the JMPD vehicle, which was apparently rushing to an accident scene, sent the woman flying a few metres into the air.
According to JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar, the pedestrian ran into the side of the vehicle.
“The woman, who suffered slight injuries was taken to hospital but I don’t know which hospital. The officers did not sustain any injuries,” he said.
With the pedestrian being well within her right to cross the road, should the JMPD officers be punished for colliding with the her?
