A book drive to knowledge

The Horizon View library calls the public to donate all books they do not use anymore.

After discovering the Horizon View library has a shortage of books, a young mother is seeing the need to ask the public to donate their old books to the library.

“I saw the need for children’s books, especially for young children who are learning to read after I discovered that the library does not have a variety of books,” says Adele Bronkhorst.

Adele used her initiative and spoke to senior librarian of the Horizon View library, Elona Muller about starting a library where children can collect books whenever they need to.

“My son, who is a Grade 2 pupil at a school in the area, is at the age where he needs to read books. The school he attends does not have a variety of books,” said Adele and this made her even more enthusiastic about starting a book drive for the library.

The library is in need of books to offer a variety of titles.

The books the library require are:

• Afrikaans children books

• Books with pictures for young children

• Young adult books

• English and Afrikaans newspapers

• Non-fiction books

• English and Afrikaans magazines

If you have any old books you would like to donate, you can personally drop it off at Horizon View library which is at The Village on the corner of Crane and Sonop Street, Horizon View.
