Successful murder conviction for Muldersdrift police
MULDERSDRIFT — Police make a breakthrough in murder case.
A man in his late 20s was sentenced on 28 May to eight years behind bars for murder .
Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya from Muldersdrift Police said officials received a murder tip-off at Video Centre Informal Settlement in Rietfontein.
“When the detectives arrived there, they noticed a 29-year-old female victim lying on the ground –she was dead on the scene.”
Ngwenya said that there were no visible injuries on the victim, who was taken to the morgue. Detectives worked around the clock during investigations and 28-year-old Happy Maleke was convicted of murder.
Meanwhile, on 29 May detectives arrested a suspect believed to be the mastermind of several burglaries in the Featherbrooke area.
“We arrested the first suspect and he was found in possession of most of the valuables believed to be stolen at an estate in Featherbrooke,” added Warrant Officer Ngwenya.
The 32-year-old man is expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court. Muldersdrift Police Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kgaogelo Seabi applauded the continued work and partnership between community members in the arrests of the wanted suspects.
