GALLERY: Couple celebrates 60 years of marriage
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Couple marks their 60th anniversary by sharing their story on how they manage a long and happy marriage.
It was love at first sight when the Weltevreden Park couple Eddie and Hanna Wilkinson met more than 60 years ago.
On 28 May, the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Recording this great milestone was not hard, as 83-year-old Hanna explained, “We’ve kept things simple in our marriage. One most important thing is that we never go to bed angry with each other.”
Eddie agreed and said they always make sure that they communicate and sort out their differences immediately.
Love and mutual respect have also made it possible to make it through all the years.
“In all the years of our marriage, my husband has never raised his hand to me, he just pampered and showered me with love,” shared Hanna.
The couple had three children, two daughters and one son, but unfortunately one daughter passed away.
They also have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
For Hanna, she only has one wish at the moment, “When the time comes that God wants to take either of us, he must just take both of us at the same time. I wouldn’t survive without my husband and I don’t think he will be able to survive on his own either,” said Hanna.
