“We grow when we face challenges”
Florida Toastmasters deliver more inspirational speeches, develop speaking skills.
If you draw quotes from their speeches, it is clear that Florida Toastmasters are serious about developing speaking skills.
Another of their meetings was recently held at the Huguenot Restaurant in Flora Centre where Margaret Roodt in a powerful speech stated, “We don’t grow when things are easy, we grow when we face challenges”. She was toastmaster of the evening.
Tim Knights in the evening’s educational presentation outlined the organisation’s Competent Leadership Programme, which consists of 10 projects and 22 assignments. He encouraged other members to work towards the Competent Leader award.
During the time allocated for prepared speeches, Knights delivered a special occasions speech, speaking about accepting an award. He excellently demonstrated to his audience how to accept such an award with sincerity and honesty, according to his evaluator Michael Glencross.
Other impromptu speeches were delivered humorously and entertained all, the best speech adjudged to be that of Paul Nicolai.
Special gust, lieutenant governer of education and training Paul Jensen presented acting president Dawn Hemming with the Toastmasters award for Toastmaster of the Year.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 2 June at 7.30pm at the Huguenot Restaurant. It will be preceded by the AGM at 7pm.
“Visitors are most welcome and encouraged to attend,” Michael said.
